Another thing, my great grandfather was fighting for the Italians in the Second World War. I remember hearing stories of the POW camps and the horrednous conditions and the concentration camps. I remember one particular story of how he snuck in and gave food to the prisoners. He was also captured and was in one of the POW camps. I have many medals and maps of the territory. Much like this man, the first hand sources are the best, as you can really connect to the true happenings.

I don’t want to sound unsympathetic towards this man, I really feel his story. But I do not understand the focus on just German’s and their anti-semetic actions. Was it not the Canadians that refused a boat landing full of Jewish immigrants to save them, but instead turned them back? If I remember correctly, the British only let children in their country. How is that fair? I can see the severity of German actions, but its not like they have been targeted once. Anti-semetism has occured more than one time.

I disagree. I think that fear had too much of an impact on them to stand up. Once the people realized what Hitler was doing with the Jews and other questionable things, that they would’ve started to want him out of power. Yes, Hitler has absolute control, but a whole Nation on one man, seems highly unlikely that he will win. But seeing the circumstances I guess it seems unrealistic that a whole nation, or most, would rebel against Hitler. Yet, if they really wanted change, it should’ve been done.

Pretty disgusting how they were beating Jews with clubs and throwing stones weighing 13-14 kilograms to kill them with. I can’t imagine trying to live in that type of society. Neighbours you’ve known for years are now enemies. You could be socializing with them one day, and bashing their head in with a stone the next.

I visited this website and was really intrigued. I enjoyed the interactive maps how we could see anything and everything we wanted. I found it an extensive website. You are really able to see what they had to go through. The pictures were moving, and sometimes a lot to see. The most interesting parts was when you could learn about how they were targeted and sent to Auschwitz.

Maria, I absolutely agree. You get the sense that they put Hitler and their nation above all else. It becomes evident that they will “stop at nothing in [their] work to help [them] achieve this”. “This” of course being domination and rule. But don’t you feel that if enough of them would rebel against them that he would be forced to step down? Much like the army when he eliminated his friend and leader, if more groups stood up, I feel things would be a lot different. This page really stuck me as sort of a “cowards” page as he expresses how he could not stand up and followed Hitler like he was his beloved dog. Your thoughts?

The lengths the Nazis went to to complete their experiments are quite disturbing. With my bag of popcorn in hand, I have lost my appetite. I also don’t see why real people have to be put through this torture for a “race science” and medical advances. I cannot believe that Hitler can stand by and watch his fellow Germans suffer for his gain. If anything, I believe he could’ve used other means to accomplish the same goals
